Stagger Hits the Road One More Time

One hundred and forty eight performances stretched across four countries on both sides of the Atlantic; the international debut of his sophomore album; critically acclaimed reviews in publications around the world — from Harp, Uncut and Maverick to indie ‘zines, Times and German alt-country websites.

Leeroy Stagger had on heck of a year in 2005.

And just before the 23 year-old Victoria, BC native stops everything to devote his full attention to the finishing touches of his new album, due out September 2006, the road in the UK is a-callin’ one last time.

Since August 2005, Stagger has toured the UK as a solo artist twice — the last tour, from November through December, was in support of Nick Harper — and has performed alongside of Peter Bruntnell, Carlos Guitarlos and several others. This time, the full band, known as Leeroy Stagger & the Sinking Hearts, are taking the leap across the Atlantic to perform in full-force at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton before Stagger heads out solo, once again.

Considered to be Canada’s answer to a young Steve Earle, this shaggy-haired musician is an exciting and youthful voice on the Americana scene. With two releases already available in the UK — his album Beautiful House and the latest Tales From the Back Porch EP — Stagger is constantly on tour internationally. Leeroy Stagger & the Sinking Hearts will also be returning to perform at Canada Day Festival in Trafalgar Square on June 30th where they will share the stage with fellow Canuck Ron Sexsmith.
