Christopher Smith’s “Christmas Day” - video and free download

Last week Woodpigeon released a holiday song online (get “xoxmas” here). Not to be outdone, label-mate Christopher Smith has not only recorded a Christmas song himself, but has also made a video for it.

While this one-upmanship may suggest that Smith and Woodpigeon’s Mark Hamilton have a competitive relationship (which may well be the case) the pair of them actually get along quite well and are collaborating on not 1 but 2 EPs to be released in 2010. Christopher Smith + The Beckon…

Die Stadt Muzikantan release date and pre-sale

We are proud to announce details of the latest full-length album titled, Die Stadt Muzikanten from Alberta-based Woodpigeon (a.k.a. Mark Andrew of The Hamiltons). His third full-length album and follow up to his internationally acclaimed Treasury Library Canada is set for release, January 12, 2010. Produced by Arran Fisher, the fifteen tracks on Die Stadt Muzikanten move and contort like a film soundtrack. Lush, grand moments complement Mark’s signature cinematic “pretty-pretty-pop” sound. The album is currently available for pre-order via the Boompa online store.

Christopher Smith’s Keepsake

You probably know a Christopher Smith.  There are a lot of them.  There are even a lot of musicians with the name, so there’s bound to be a lot of confusion in the coming months with links to the wrong Smith site.  The Christopher Smith I’m writing you about isn’t much known outside of Vancouver.  While he can be considered a newcomer, he’s been playing galleries and bedrooms around East Vancouver for years and those who do know Christopher (this…

Christopher Smith free download, and show tonight

We’ve been watching Christopher Smith play shows in and around the Main St. community of Vancouver for years, and have been looking forward to releasing his debut for just as long. We love the simplicity and beauty of all of Chris’s songs and are just really excited to sign a new Vancouver artist.

While Smith’s debut full length release, The Beckon Call, won’t be out until February, you can expect to hear a lot more of him in the months to…

Reverie Sound Revue, new signing and new releases

We are thrilled to announce the signing of Reverie Sound Revue. We have been friends with (and huge fans of) the band since the early days of Boompa, and we were more than a little upset when they broke up a few years back. Then they decided to get back together to make more music, and we drank scotch and danced a little, and might have broken into song.

It took a little while to finish (a few years) because the…

2 new kids songs and a party on your stereo

If there was a Toddler TRL, the Salteens would be huge stars, sell-outs in your eyes, who would no doubt make you feel morally superior. But there isn’t a Toddler TRL, there’s just my inbox. It seems like every other day I get an email from an imploring parent, asking the Salteens to please, please, please make their Yo Gabba Gabba song “I’m So Happy” available for download or purchase, or anything just so they can satisfy the unabating requests…
